These are now the official guidelines for all moderaters(mods). It is expected that you will all try your best to follow the 5 self rules to being a good mod.*Praises FMB**Aproved by Sephiroth* A moderator, often shortened to just mod, is a person granted special powers to enforce the rules of a chat, message board, or electronic mailing list. Almost all moderators can move discussions to different sections of the forum, close discussions, edit the content of individual postings, answer questions (or help people with problems), and 'stick' discussions so they remain visible in their forum section even if no new postings are made to them. Different forums may give their moderators further powers, such as being able to block/ban people from the message board, chat or e-mail list who are trolling or breaking the rules of the message board. Good Moderator: A moderator who listens to everyone, yet making a conclusion of its own. Being consistent is the key to a good moderator. Learning to place your own likes and dislikes in the deep freeze while you are on the chat, board, etc, will help you find the flames easier. You may not like a certain member, but guess what? That member probably doesn’t like you either. Engaging in a power play, singling out this certain member will eventually demean you in the eyes of the others on the team and community. Your job is to keep the chat or forums running smooth and even though you aren’t getting paid for your time, you need to show up for work on a regular basis, otherwise others will have to pick up your slack, creating more work for them. A moderator doesn't lead by emotion, a moderator is an example of what is right, and why he or she was picked was because he or she follows the guidelines, they shouldn't break or make new rules at will. Being a moderator is a thankless job. You even give up your membership to a certain extent, once that decision is made to come on board with the Admin team. It doesn’t matter if you are the most popular member on the planet; once you cross over to that Mod Forum the other members place you on a different level than before when you were one of “them.” It’s sad, but that is just how it works out. A mod doesn't let friends, or even lovers get in the way, and be unfair to others. Self rules may be simple! These are rules you should establish for your self, so you may follow and be a good mod 1. Be a team player 2. Be fair-minded 3. Be diplomatic 4. Don’t let personal issues get in the way of moderating 5. Show up when you can for the job Now, if you miss more than 2 of these you know that you have a problem, and that you may be categorized as a Lazy, or even bad mod. Types of mod: There are MANY types of mods, so i will just post the most frequent:
Thank you. |

I have an opinon on inactive mod. I see a mod shouldn't be inactive, but if somthing big in their life just suddenly poped up after being a good active mod, I think it is understandable to not label this person as a bad mod. Anways I like how you organized this and explained it. I think it is very good that you have done this. And you probably know their are some exception is some of the groups. |
