In the anime right now, the strongest must be sasuke though, he's hardly been in it but he was amazin when he was (full body chidori etc.). At first I didn't understand why Gaara was winning but I understand that he put up a hell of a fight to defend the Sand village. Like that massive sand shield he used to cover the whole village to protect it from Deidara's bomb. Anyways...

They can't exactly kill him off can they. Then it would just be weird that the show is named after him. Plus he is the chosen one and all that, Jiraiya's student with the power to either save or destroy the world.
